Clothing, Bodies, and the Burden of Disposability

Second Skin — Clothing, Bodies, and the Burden of Disposability forms the first chapter of Objects of Refuse, a continuing, multi-year curatorial inquiry by LOUDR into the ecological, social, and cultural meanings of waste and regeneration.

Second Skin focuses on clothing and textile waste — examining how our “second skin” embodies questions of identity, labour, and disposability. The project is conceived as an extended program of community engagement culminating in a gallery exhibition.

Through workshops, dialogues, film screenings, and collaborative interventions, Second Skin will invite participants to reconsider the life of a garment — from production to abandonment. The exhibition will then act as a collective reflection space, bringing together outcomes from these engagements alongside artworks that articulate parallel concerns.

What is LOUDR

LOUDR is a curatorial practice that creates meaningful art experiences across different spaces and communities. We work closely with artists whose voices deserve to be heard—whether emerging or mid-career—to bring forward stories and ideas that shape how we understand our world. At its core, LOUDR is a space for experimentation, dialogue, and artistic courage.

Our Objectives

Our primary goal is to bring forth diverse artistic voices and make contemporary art more accessible, relevant, and socially engaged. We aim to start new conversations around identity, ecology, culture, and everyday life—while building stronger connections between artists and the audiences they hope to reach. LOUDR also seeks to create platforms where underrepresented perspectives can find visibility, support, and community.
